Tape Filth – Judgement Day
A four-layer, tape-processed synth for full Kontakt 8 built for dark analog, cyberpunk and sci-fi horror work.
Build pads, drones, pulses, bass textures and leads from analog sources recorded to cassette, then push them
through filters, macros, morphing and a focused FX chain.

Engine Overview
-
Layers A–D
- Per-layer high-pass, low-pass, resonance, volume and transpose
-
XY Grid morphing
- Manual position control for precise blends
- Auto-motion shapes with speed and depth controls
-
Step sequencer
- Up to 16 steps with pitch offset and velocity pattern per step
- Rate, swing, gate and octave spread for rhythmic control
-
Macros
- Age – tape wear, drift and saturation behavior
- Space – reverb send, stereo width and air
- Movement – amplitude and modulation motion
- Character – 3-band EQ tilt for warmth, presence, bite
-
Effects
- Drive, bit and sample rate reduction
- Tape-style wow, flutter, speed, stereo spread and saturation
- Ring modulation
- Granular delay with pitch, reverse and stereo options
- Ensemble-style modulation
- Aux reverb with size, pre-delay, feedback, diffusion and damping
-
Global
- ADSR envelope, main filter cutoff and peak, global trim
How It Works in Practice
Load up to four tape-processed layers, set per-layer filters, then place the XY point or enable auto-motion to evolve between sources over time. The sequencer locks pulses and pitched patterns to tempo, while the macros give you fast, broad-stroke shaping without menu diving.
Add grit and movement with drive, bit reduction and tape modulation, then finish with stereo width, delay and reverb for a mix-ready, cinematic result.
Sound Focus
- Tape-chewed analog pads that slowly evolve
- Corroded drones for tension beds and underscore
- Mechanical pulses and sequences that sit against picture
- Low analog rumbles and straightforward leads
